double a side release from a london based unknown artist on this dark dubstep label inspired by early 90s sampling culture. first tune up is a dark and heavy stepper with sinister vocals drenched in echo. mutated basslines sit nicely under face slap snares. flip side is a nice roller that never lets up, a chunky bassline plays off the relentless beats while paranoia samples bring on the thc induced psychosis.

first extract of his forthcoming album alone, words in a bottle sits right where we like to sit: at the border between house and techno. it s got the funk, the rhythm, the tribal beats and bassline that make you move. and its got the techno soul too. it s got the devil inside, but still feeds your mind with atmospheric waves of deepness. on the flipside, rodriguez jr., one half of french techno celebrities the youngsters, delivers the kind of remix you usually dream of but are never sure you re gonna get. it s a funky dark techno affair, with a killer hook.

as costello continues to look long, the grooves continue to flow. lng3 sees the reissue of the deep house classic pleite which originally appeared on trapez in 2003. recorded in dublin in 2002, this version has been mastered at dubplates and mastering, berlin in 2009. the results are stunning and serve as a welcome reminder of costelloÆs deep roots. pleite (costello dub) in particular could teach some of todayÆs hyperactive producers a thing or two about setting up a solid groove and letting it sit. the timing of this reissue could not be more perfect with regard to the current musical zeitgeist. the title, a german colloquialism for broke or indeed bankrupt which was an in-joke at the time of the original release, takes on a new significance in the context of global economic recession.
